HISTORY
A Village Built By Farming
Palos Heights, IL began as a small farming settlement in the mid-1800s, after forests were separated into lots and lumber was harvested for fuel. Even by the 1900s, Palos Heights remained a farming settlement with some small developments like a school district in 1901.
Finally in 1928, a highway arrived, allowing for automobile access that aided in the further development of the area. As properties were laid out and homes built, the city was eventually incorporated in 1959 and facilities such as Trinity Tristan College were established. Towards the end of the 1900s the last bit of farmland was developed into suburban homes to reflect the city as it is today, a peaceful and welcoming community.
