Just South of Downtown Chicago
Located in Cook County, IL, Evergreen Park is under 20 miles from Chicago and close to the beautiful freshwater Lake Michigan. Being located in such a prime spot, Evergreen Park residents have great access to both city amenities and famous Chicago beaches like North Avenue Beach.

Evergreen Park, IL is home to 19,471 people, making it the 125th most populated city in the state of Illinois. Residents of Evergreen Park report that the city feels safe, has a good school system, and that they feel lucky to live there.
HISTORY
Site of the First Successful Organ Transplant
Starting out as a small farming settlement, the name Evergreen Park was inspired by the Evergreen trees in the area. In 1888 when St. Mary’s Cemetery opened, the area quickly became a recreation center as Chicagoans visited the area to pay their respects, helping to grow Evergreen Park.
In 1930, the OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center opened, and eventually became the site of the world’s first ever successful organ transplant.
Evergreen Park is also home to the first indoor shopping mall in the Chicago area, the Evergreen Plaza, or “The Plaza”, which opened in the 1950s and after redevelopment, is open today as the Evergreen Marketplace.
